Marketing and Social Media Coordinator

The Wade Institute for Science Education is a not-for profit corporation whose mission is to promote the teaching of participatory, inquiry-based science, mathematics and technology/engineering education at the K-12 levels in partnership with museums and other non-profit organizations. The Wade Institute provides Professional Development programs and resources for K-12 formal and informal educators. The Marketing and Social Media Coordinator will administer digital initiatives to promote the Wade Institute for Science Education and its programs through collaborative, strategic, digital marketing communications.  As the Marketing and Social Media Coordinator for the Wade Institute for Science Education you promote science educator professional development with digital audiences, increasing educator and partner awareness of our work. From strategy to content creation to data analysis, you will own our social media channels to promote the Wade Institute and our programs and make high quality STEM educator professional development a priority in Massachusetts.

This is a 30 hour position based in Quincy, MA, with some travel throughout Massachusetts. Currently the Wade Institute staff works remotely but you must be able to attend meetings in Quincy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design social media strategy to promote the organization and its programs
  • Evaluate which social media platforms are best for the Wade Institute brand, and make recommendations regarding which to cultivate, which to start, and which to retire (if any).
  • Create and manage engaging and informative content across various social media platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Plan, execute, and track social media content to promote programs and recognize stakeholders.
  • Design digital marketing assets, including graphics for digital platforms.
  • Monitor social media trends, industry news, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Design , write and distribute digital marketing materials through collaborative communications networks such as listservs, news blogs, and press releases.
  • Engage with followers, respond to comments and messages, and address any inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Utilize analytical tools to track and analyze key social media metrics, develop actionable insights, and optimize strategies accordingly.
  • Develop quarterly analytical reports to track growth metrics, identify successes, and modify tactics or overall strategy according to a metric-based approach.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media best practices, tools, and trends to continuously improve our social media presence.
  • Plan, execute, and track social media content to promote programs and recognize stakeholders.
  • Identify and test new strategies and innovative approaches to expand to new audiences.
  • Evaluate emerging platforms and content trends to develop effective digital marketing strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, science, communications, marketing, or related field.
  • Two years marketing/communications experience, preferably experience working with nonprofits.
  • Genuine interest in science education.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box.
  • In-depth knowledge of various social media platforms, tools, and best practices.
  • Experience using social media for marketing and organizational awareness.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in and willingness to learn new features of the following programs:
    • Google Workspace
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • WordPress
    • Canva
    • LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, and other social media sites a plus
    • Hootsuite
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Analytical skills to track and measure campaign performance.

Content Creation and Management: You will design digital marketing assets and content to increase our brand recognition and support our fundraising efforts and coordinate complementary content across our social media channels. This includes materials for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn, and our website, including graphics, as well as targeted materials that complement our fundraising campaigns. You will also write, design, and distribute digital marketing materials through collaborative communications networks such as listservs, news blogs, and press releases.

Strategy Development: You will design a social media strategy to promote the Wade Institute and our programs. You will stay current on emerging platforms, content trends, social media best practices, and tools to improve our social media presence and to develop an effective digital marketing strategy. You will also monitor social media trends, industry news, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities for growth and improvement.

Engagement: You will engage with followers, responding to comments and messages and addressing any inquiries in a timely manner. Using data, you will identify and test new strategies and innovative approaches to expand to new audiences. You will plan, execute, and track social media content to promote programs and recognize stakeholders.

Data Analysis: Using analytical tools to track and analyze key social media metrics, you will develop actionable insights and optimize our digital marketing strategies. You will then use that data to develop quarterly analytical reports to track growth, identify successes, and modify tactics or overall strategy. You will also use metrics to evaluate which social media platforms are best for the Wade Institute brand and to make recommendations regarding which to cultivate, which to start, and which to retire (if any).

Salary: $40,000 – $45,000 depending on experience (based on 30 hours/week)

Education Specialist

The Wade Institute is seeking experienced Professional Development providers to assist with the delivery of our professional learning programs. This is a part-time, contract/consulting  position. Successful candidates must have a masters degree or higher in education, science, or related field, experience in delivering professional learning programs, willingness to travel throughout Massachusetts, and have a flexible schedule.
